DJ

DJ mode is a fun way to earn some coins while sharing music with others in a room. There can be up to four DJs in a room, but everyone can participate by giving songs thumbs up or thumbs down. Whether you participate as a DJ or a rater, you have a chance to earn coins.

Become a DJ

Here are the basics of being a room DJ:

• You can become a DJ in a room by adding a song to the room from your Stuff tab. If the room is already in DJ mode, you can add a song by clicking on the orange note in the lower right of the room for the music player and click on the "Add music..." button.
• Room owners cannot activate DJ mode on their own. If a room is in DJ mode, a room owner can add songs to the room and become a DJ as long as the four DJ slots are not full.
• As a DJ, you manage your own private song queue and can add multiple songs from your music. Click and drag songs in your list to reorder them. The song at the top of your queue gets played when it's your turn.
• There can be up to four DJs in a room. After there are four DJs, the "Add music..." button is grayed out if you are not already a DJ.
• DJs automatically take turns playing songs. The current DJ is highlighted in the room with a spotlight.
• The leading DJ with the highest rating will have a crown above their name and the rating next to it. A DJ's rating is that of their last played song.
• You earn coins when one of your songs finishes playing. The higher the rating, the more the DJ makes.

Add a song to a room.

Each DJ manages their own private song queue. If you are a room manager, you will have the option to remove DJs via the X button in the DJ list.

The current DJ is under a spotlight. The crown and number denote the leading DJ.

Participate by Rating Songs

From top to bottom: Unrated, Thumbs Up, and Thumbs Down.

You can earn coins by giving songs a thumbs up or thumbs down. The DJ interface is in the bottom right of your browser shows the song's total rating next to the thumbs up and down clickable icons and an orange note to access the music player. If you like a song click on thumbs up, or thumbs down if you want to skip to the next DJ's song. If a song gets enough thumbs down votes, it will be skipped.

At the end of the song, everyone who rated is awarded coins.

DJs cannot rate their own songs.

DJ Party

A room marked as having a DJ PARTY in the "Active rooms" section of the Rooms tab.

If you have the full four players DJing in a room, it will be marked as a "DJ PARTY" if it is in the "Active rooms" section of the Rooms tab.

Setting a Room to Allow or Prevent DJing

The Decorate Panel

Anyone may add a song to a room's playlist by default. However, if you want to change the playlist setting to allow or prevent DJing in your room, follow these instructions:

1. If you own or are the manager of a room in a whirled, you can click on the Room icon in the control bar and select the Decorate button .
2. Click on the box to mark or unmark "Anyone can add songs to the playlist" and click on the "Done" or "Publish" button.
